Bergey WindPower Co. (BWC) sells directly to customers and through a
growing network of Certified Dealers and Resellers. Certified Dealers
offer installation services and most have received factory
training. Resellers sell equipment, but do not install it or
provide after-sales support.
All Certified Dealers and Resellers buy directly from the factory. There
are no distributors or master dealers. Very few dealers actually stock
BWC equipment, most equipment is ordered at the time the customer
purchases. However, we do offer volume discounts so some dealers
do stock equipment to take advantage of these additional
discounts. Our dealer and reseller discounts are competitive.

We encourage anyone interested in becoming a dealer to
contact BWC or apply for a dealership. We prefer businesses with a
retail storefront, but that is not a requirement. Some of our most
productive dealers are electrical contractors, solar dealers, or heating
& air companies.
We do not sell dealerships or marketing areas. We do require that
new dealers purchase at least one BWC wind turbine so that they will
have a "demo" unit. Sometimes these systems are
installed at the dealers place of business, but they can also be
installed for a nearby customer.
Dealer
territories are non-exclusive. We do, however, try to protect the
service territory of active dealers by restricting the establishment of
new dealers in market areas that are being adequately developed.
Payment terms are typically 30% with order, with the balance due just
prior to shipment. Credit terms are available to established accounts
and are authorized on a case-by-case basis. Warranty repair work is
reimbursed following a set fee structure that does not cover travel time
(which encourages dealers to install equipment within easy driving
distance from their base). Coop advertising is available on a
case-by-case basis.
Factory training is offered on a semi-annual basis in Norman, Oklahoma. One
of our particular strengths is our technical staff's 20+ years
experience in installing, maintaining and repairing BWC wind turbines
all over the world. This allows us to provide our dealers with
unparalleled product and project support.
But, our greatest strength is the ruggedness and reliability of our
products. For wind turbine dealers, this is critically important.
Dealers for less reliable product lines quickly learn the high costs of
supporting weak equipment in the field.
Lastly, BWC places a high value on energy and enthusiasm. We
recognize that emerging technologies require inordinate efforts to open
markets and overcome historical barriers. We believe the growth
potential for the small wind business is substantial and we are actively
seeking enterprising individuals and companies that want to grow with
us.
The U.S. government now offers tax
credits for small wind systems. The credits are 30% up to $4,000
or $1,000/kW, whichever is less, for residential applications and 30% up
